Hi Everyone! Today is my dog. Nani’s birthday and she had a really rough week so I decided to make a special birthday cake as a treat for her. If you follow me on facebook and/or Instagram you’ll know what happened.
But if you don’t she has had a rash on her nose for quite a while that keeps going back and forth between getting a little better and then a little worse. Finally, I decided enough is enough and I took her to the emergency vet on Sunday the 14th. They did a biopsy to try to determine what’s going on. But now she is left wearing a cone for the week. 🙁
Now fast forward to today and it’s her birthday. I have no real babies of my own. Just my fur baby, so any chance to spoil her, especially when she had a week like this, I’m in!
So I made a cake with some of her favorite things. The base is peanut butter and then she loves Beneful dog food, so I included that too. Then, I used little mini milk bones for the decoration on the sides, the crust, and folded in throughout. Also, there is just a small amount of cream cheese, I didn’t want this to be too rich but I wanted it to have some structure.
Really though, you can customize this so much and put in whatever your dog likes or whatever you have on hand. You could use different combinations of soft dog food and treats, You could not use soft food at all, you could use different fruit, Whatever you like and your dog likes. Also banana is always a good binder.
I am so happy with how this came out and I think Nani is too! Follow me on Facebook and Instagram for updates on Nani and her condition. Tell me in the comments what you would put in your dogs birthday cake and I will see you all next week with another recipe!
Dog Treat Birthday Cake
This doggy cheesecake is comprised of a dog's favorite things: peanut butter, bisquits, and beneful soft dog food, along with just enough cream cheese to give it some structure.
Ingredients
- 25 of your dogs favorite biscuits, plus more for decoration (I'm using mini milk bone)
- 1/4 cup of peanut butter
- Half of a small can of your dogs favorite soft dog food (I'm using Beneful)
- 1/6th of a block of Cream Cheese
Instructions
1. Add dog bisquits to a large ziplock bag and crush them with a rolling pin or meat tenderizer. Reserve a small handful of the crumbs for later and add the juice from the soft dog food and a little bit of water to the other 2/3, enough to just moisten the crumbs.
2. Add the bisquit crumbs to the bottom of a prepared 4 inch springform pan. Pack down to an even layor.
3. Add all the remaining ingrediants to a food processor and blend until combined.
4. Add the mixture to a bowl and fold in the remaining crumbs.
5. Add the mixture to the pan and let it set in the fridge for 3 hours.
6. Once set, un mold the cake and line the edge of the cake with more bisquits.
7. Serve immediately or store in the fridge for up to a week,
