I love halloween for so many reasons but perhaps the biggest one is it gives me an excuse to watch horror movies.  I LOVE horror movies!  And one of my favorite things to do while watching horror movies is eat popcorn.  So that’s why this post is all about how to make popcorn with caramel, parmesan and just plain butter and salt.

How to Make Popcorn with Caramel : The Process

  One of the most important things to remember in how to make popcorn with caramel or any topping is that you can’t just add regular melted butter, you have to first clarify the butter.  That’s just a fancy name for taking the water out of the butter so that it downs make our popcorn soggy.  

    The other thing to consider is that salt sticks much better to popcorn when it’s finer.  So just simply put salt in a blender and wiz it up until fine.

3 Homemade Popcorn Flavors

3 flavors of homemade popcorn to devour, sitting on the couch, watching your favorite horror movie.

Ingredients

Garlic Parmesan Movie Theater Popcorn

  • 1 1/3 of Popped Popcorn
  • 1/2 tsp of Garlic Powder
  • 1/3 Cup of Melted Clarified Butter
  • 1 TBSP of Fresh Grated Parmesan
  • 1/4 of a tsp of Fine Salt

Plain Butter Movie Theater Popcorn

  • 1 1/3 of a Cup of Fresh Popped Popcorn
  • 1/3 of a Cup of Melted Clarified Butter
  • 1/4 of a tsp of Fine Salt

Halloween Candy Popcorn

  • 1 1/3 Cup of Fresh Popped Popcorn
  • 1/3 of a Cup of Caramel
  • 1/4 of a tsp of Fine Salt
  • 1/8 of a Cup of Chopped Candy Bars
  • 1/8 of a Cup of Candy Corn
  • 1/8 of a Cup of M&M's

Instructions

How to Make Clarified Butter

  1. Place 1 Cup of Unsalted Butter in a small pot.
  2. Melt the butter over low heat.
  3. Simmer for 10 minutes over low heat.
  4. Pass the butter through a fine mesh sieve with a paper towel inside.

How to Make Popcorn Salt

  1. Place a spoonful of salt in a blender.
  2. Blend until the salt turns into a powder.

Plain Buttered Movie Theater Popcorn

  1. Add the popcorn of your choice to a large bowl. Whether that be microwave plain popcorn or popcorn that you pop yourself.
  2. Keep adding butter and salt and tasting until you get something that you like.
  3. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Garlic Parmesan Popcorn

  1. Add the popcorn of your choice to a large bowl. Whether that be microwave plain popcorn or popcorn that you pop yourself.
  2. Add the same amount of butter and salt and toss the popcorn to coat.
  3. Freshly grate the parmesan and toss to coat.
  4. Add the garlic powder and toss to coat.
  5. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days

Halloween Candy Popcorn

  1. Add the popcorn of your choice to a large bowl. Whether that be microwave plain popcorn or popcorn that you pop yourself.
  2. Add caramel to taste and toss to coat.
  3. Add the chopped candy bars, candy corn and M&M's.
  4. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days
